Phase one – dark matter scaffolding
Much like the universe, the proposal uses a parametric scaffold to create the conditions within which the new planetarium
Is developed. By analyzing a variable field of points within a flexible box of space and according to operative techniques observed in the aggregation of matter (clustering, spiraling, pulverizing, repulsion and inflation for example), craft pylons icons are then located and their proximal relationships enable the designation of zones (hub, field, depot) to be tested. The places where these zones meet with the pylons, site conditions and each other create crumple zones where tectonic density and programmatic ambiguity make for potent areas of future expansion and internal reconfiguration. By cycling through various iterations of the above process, the planetarium can be modelled over time as it adapts to changes in physical and intellectual climates.

Forming a bridge between Governors Island and Red Hook, Brooklyn, Cosmological Institute of New York (CINY) will be a center for innovation in all fields. By repurposing the existing residential fabric of Governors Island and the warehouse/manufacturing waterfront of Red Hook CINY becomes a world campus where the first starships will be born.
