To design something literally out of our world, means that we need to start from scratch. The Atom is the base unit that allows the development of everything around us. Mission IOTA behaves in the same way. Join IASA’s (International Aeronautics and Space Association) 6 brave astronauts, from the moment they set foot on the moon to the day they depart for their next expedition.

Mission IOTA was conceived as a project of many phases:

Phase 1
Crater Selection
Mission IOTA began the journey to conquer the lunar surface. A selected group of professional scientists and astronauts arrived at a selected moon crater that would harbor human life.
Habitable Spacecraft
In Phase 1 the astronauts lived in the spacecraft and will perform a research to understand the lunar life conditions and surroundings. In the process they will use moon miners (robots) that will obtain all kind of resources and domesticate the crater context.
Shield Protection
With help of 3d printing robots they could start the shields construction. The shields structure are geodesic domes united by polygonal elements. The interior shield is an ETFE inflatable membrane. This plastic material has a
electrostatic radiation shield protection. When the shield construction
ends, oxygen will flow within.
Research facilities
The research facilities are modular spaces with truss structures. Its modular structure permits a gradual construction. At the same time, the astronauts could plant different kinds of vegetation that will provide food in the near future.

Phase 2
Underground Experience
Hexagonal modular structure are attached on lunar cave. This provides its visitors a variety of leisure activity options, promoting new ways of space tourism.

Phase 3
Tunnel Network
The moon is home to many underground lava tubes. By exploring them, the astronauts can find a way to connect them. If it happens, a crater connection system will be created. Other craters can be colonized and transformed gradually, expanding the habitable areas available on the moon.
Gravity Rings
To survive in space for a long period of time, humans need gravity. Without gravity bone and muscular loss may occur in the human body. To generate an artificial gravity we need to use centripetal force, and the circular structure will help create it. Gravity Rings are three rings that spins around Crater X, providing habitants with a safe place for living.

Phase 4
Planetary Exploration
Mission IOTA is completed. All the resources and human needs are fulfilled. Now the moon is prepared to be inhabited by humans in long term. Mars, we’re coming for you.
